ABB – Holland
Geert De Weert is a breeder and co-founder of ABB, he has an agricultural background education, he also studied a practical course in plant breeding. He is a raspberry grower since 1979. He is also consultant in strawberry and raspberry. He started breeding and selection work in 2004. He introduced first varieties in 2009 and started ABB. With Bertus Meijer they introduced a second series of varieties in 2017. A third series of varieties will also be introduced in 2023.
Bertus Meijer is a breeder and R&D manager in Advanced Berry Breeding, he has an agricultural background education in nursery and stock and a Bsc in biotechnology. He took classes in genetics and plant breeding at Wageningen UR and worked for 28 years in research ai Wageningen UR in breeding, plant propagation, variety testing. He started as consultant at ABB in 2015 and as R&D at ABB in 2016. With Geert De Weert they introduced a second series of varieties in 2017. A third series of varieties will also be introduced in 2023.
